The Rockmart Youth Football Association held their homecoming last Saturday at the Nathan Dean Sports Complex as the teams played their final home games of the season.

Facing off with the teams from Kennesaw’s youth league, Rockmart took a break from the gridiron to recognize their homecoming queen candidates and crown the winner.

Out of eight girls, 5-year-old representative Emily Adams was named the RYFA 2010 Homecoming Queen. Alexis Wesson, the league’s 12-year-old representative, was named first runner-up.

On the field, both the 5-year-old and 6-year-old squads were defeated by the visiting Mustangs.

Rockmart’s 7-year-olds were able to pick up a win as they beat Kennesaw 27-7. The 8-year-old Jackets lost a close one, 13-0.

In their previous game with Mt. Carmel, Rockmart’s 10-year-old team won 13-0. Tyron Summerhour had 41 yards and a touchdown plus seven tackles.

Cam Jones ran for 29 yards and a touchdown while earning three tackles and an interception. Keyshun Kent had five tackles and an interception while Bailey Armstrong had three tackles and Ridge Blackwell had two.

Rockmart’s squads are on the road for the final two weeks of the regular season.
