Update: A two-vehicle wreck Friday on the Rockmart Highway in Floyd County killed a Polk County woman and left a Rome man at Floyd Medical Center, officials said.

The Rockmart woman was identified as 47-year-old Stephanie Regina Ragland, Coroner Barry Henderson said.

Henderson said Ragland was pronounced dead at Floyd Medical Center at 8:44 a.m. Friday.

Rome’s Johnathan Daniel Tucker, 18, who was ejected from his Ford Ranger during the incident, was in stable condition at FMC on Friday, hospital officials said.

Police were dispatched at 6:52 a.m. to the wreck. Ragland was driving a Silver Oldsmobile and Tucker was driving a blue Ford Ranger, police said.

The vehicles were involved in a head-on collision near the intersection of Rockmart Highway and Isbell Road, according to Floyd County Police Cpl. Mary Catherine Chewning.

Traffic in the area had to be briefly rerouted because of the wreck.

A Rockmart woman who was killed in a wreck early Friday morning on the Rockmart Highway in Floyd County was identified as 47-year-old Stephanie Regina Ragland, 47, Coroner Barry Henderson said.

A Floyd County man injured in the wreck was identified as Johnathan Daniel Tucker, 18, by Floyd County police. Tucker is in serious condition and is being treated in the emergency room at Floyd Medical Center, said Bill Fortenberry, public relations specialist for FMC.

According to FCPD Cpl. Mary Catherine Chewning:

Police were dispatched at 6:52 a.m. to the wreck. A Polk County woman driving a Silver Oldsmobile and a Floyd County man driving a blue Ford Ranger.

The Floyd County man was also taken to an area hospital for treatment.

No names have been released as of yet.

The vehicles have been removed from the scene and traffic along Rockmart Highway was been restored to normal. Police had been detouring traffic from both lanes for a time and there was an amount of traffic build up near the area of the wreck.
