CMS beat Darlington on the gridiron last week

The Cedartown Middle School football team won their 2010 season opener by picking up an impressive win over Darlington, 24-6, on the road.

“The team is working hard and getting better with each practice,” head coach Bob Tracy said.

Against Darlington, Harrison Barnett threw a touchdown pass to Austin Pope to open the scoring. The second touchdown also came in the air when Barnett connected with Josh Lee.

Freddi Moore finished the scoring by sprinting for two long touchdown runs.

Cedartown’s home opener is today against Coosa at 4:30 p.m.

After today’s contest, Cedartown will host Armuchee on Sept. 14 before visiting Rockmart Sept. 21 and Pepperell Sept. 28.

The Bulldogs will host Model on Oct. 5. After a bye week on Oct. 12, the Bulldogs close out the regular season by hosting Chattooga on Oct. 19.

A league championship game will be held Oct. 26 for the top two teams in the league.

All games are scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.

Members of the middle school team this fall are Ben Russell, Freddi Moore, Daylon Davis, Harrison Barnett, Shikahri Murphy, Adrian Ervin, A.J. Heath, Josh Lee, Zonterius Scofield, Tyrone Scofield, Peyton Payne, Logan Duke, Bolivar Cordero, Daniel King.

Garrett Rodgers, Ron Stephens, Stephen Blazer, Titus Stocks, Logan Rush, Benjie Akins, Ben Truett, Justin Womack, Rodney Smith, Keilus Jackson, Jarod Puckett, Austin Pope, Seth Mason and Michael Rhodes.
