As a result, Rockmart High School’s athletic department, along with other clubs, are already gearing up and getting the word out about the fundraisers and important dates some fans and students may miss.
The biggest and most prominent among these is the Jacket 100 Club and the athletic booster club is reminding patrons that they can purchase their membership tickets at the high school right now.
Each $100 donation will come with admission to all regular season home sports contests, adding up to less than $1 per game.
Also included in membership is preferred parking for all home football games, a special Jacket 100 hat and hospitality amenities at select home football games.
Jacket 100 members will also have their name put on the large sign outside of the football stadium and printed in the football program. They can also purchase reserve seats at football games for half price.
For more information or to purchase tickets, call the high school at 770-684-5432.
The first of two football games before classes start will bring the Cedartown Bulldogs to The Rock for the classic rivalry on Aug. 27.
The Rockmart High School Renaissance program is selling special game day shirts that feature a unique design on the back as well as the date of the game on the front pocket.
Available at the high school Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the shirts are $10 for small to extra large and $12 for bigger sizes.
The shirts will also be available at the community pep rally the Thursday evening before the game at Seaborn Jones Park.
Yellow Jacket football and wresting parents are out now selling raffle tickets for season-long drawings that come with an interesting stipulation.
The group is giving away three deer rifles and a crossbow at each Rockmart home football game this season with the raffle carrying over each game and any winning ticket selected going back into the drawing for each prize.
Tickets are $50 each and drawings will be held each quarter of play.
Tryouts for both softball and volleyball will be happening next week as the two programs also get ready to kick off the 2010 season.
The Rockmart softball team will hold tryouts from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the school’s softball complex on Monday, Aug. 2. Volleyball tryouts will be Aug. 2, 3 and 5 beginning at 5 p.m. each day in the gym.
Both teams are coming off of successful seasons after softball played for the Class AA state championship before falling to Buford and volleyball earned a berth in the state playoffs.
Softball begins its season on Aug. 13 while volleyball starts on Aug. 17. The Yellow Jacket football team will begin preseason practice on Aug. 2.
