Byrne qualified as a Republican candidate in April of 2008, but since then his residency was challenged requiring further investigation and the special hearing.
Byrne does retain the option to file an appeal with Polk Superior Court within the next 10 days.
According to the law, a candidate must be a legal resident in Polk County for 12 months to run for office.

Because the hearing ran until nearly 5 p.m. on Tuesday, we couldn't get the article in for today's paper. However, a more detailed article will run in next Tuesdays paper with the correction.

I assume you will print a retraction in the same loaction, and same size font in the paper??

This is Todd Ollis, the author of the article. I made a mistake in writing this article. One needs to be a resident in Polk County for 12 months to run for office, not six years. I apologize for my error.
