The culmination of 12 years of hard work will come to an exciting end this Sunday in Cedartown as the Cedartown High School class of 2008 will take the field and make the transition from student to graduate.
This year’s commencement ceremony will take place on the Doc Ayers Field at Cedartown High School Memorial Stadium at 8 p.m.
“We are excited about graduation,” Cedartown High School Principal Hal David said. “The class of 2008 has worked hard at reviving that ‘Bulldog Spirit.’ They get along well together and have been a joy to be associated with. This class has an abundance of intellect, courage and friendship.”
It was a tight race this year for the honor of valedictorian, according to CHS officials.
A last-second recalculation determined that both Yuri Perez and Bradley Strickland both had the highest grade point average of all their classmates. Perez and Strickland are scheduled to speak during Sunday’s graduation ceremony.
According to counselor Jenny Ware, 202 students are expected to make the short walk from student to graduate Sunday night, though she did say that number could possibly change as grades are tallied.
