Police said that a car turning in front of a pickup truck caused a two-vehicle collision on Thursday afternoon on U.S. 27 South.

According to Trooper Abraham Chiesa of the Georgia State Patrol:

A 1994 Lexus, driven by Clinton Yates, was traveling north on Hwy. 27 and attempted to turn onto Walker Mountain Road around 5 p.m. A 2000 Ford Ranger pickup, driven by Robert Winkle, was traveling south on Cedartown Highway when he saw Yates turn in front of him.

Winkle swerved to try to avoid the car but collided with the front of the Lexus before continuing into a ditch.

Winkle was not injured, and Yates complained of only a minor hand injury.

Chiesa said Yates was charged with failure to yield while turning left.
