Harbin Clinic is selling its outpatient cardiac rehabilitation centers in Rome, Cartersville and Cedartown to Hospital Corporation of America. The rehabilitation programs will move from Harbin Clinic facilities to HCA-owned hospitals: Redmond Hospital in Rome, Cartersville Medical Center in Cartersville and Polk Medical Center in Cedartown.

Sale of the rehabilitation programs will be on June 1, 2010. The purchase price was not released.

“Cardiac rehab patients will remain under the care of Harbin Clinic physicians," said Dr. Ken Davis, Harbin CEO. "For our patients, there should be very little disruption with the same staff and doctors providing care. The only change will be the location where rehab is provided. For those who work in our rehabilitation centers, the sale provides continuation of employment. HCA has agreed to hire current Harbin Clinic cardiac rehabilitation employees.”

There are approximately 150 patients currently receiving cardiac rehabilitation in the centers and 14 employees.

Cardiac rehabilitation is a customized program of exercise and education designed to help the patient recover after a heart attack, from other forms of heart disease, or after surgery to treat heart disease.

Good move by Redmond. If and when I develop a heart problem, my heart belongs to Redmond!
