Although election qualification doesn’t begin until late April, Tallapoosa Mayor William “Pete” Bridges recently told the Haralson County Republican Party that he intends to run for Georgia’s District 31 Senate seat on the Republican ticket.

From the "having your cake and eating it too" category, its odd that he could lose the primary election (Is there REALLY a groundswell to boot Bill Heath?), and thehn still quualify to run in the Special election in September? Hmmmm.
