The newly named Doc Ayers and Ray Beck Community Foundation, Inc. held its annual luncheon on Thursday, March 25 at the Cherokee Country Club.

The event was held so that proceeds from last year’s Doc Ayers and Ray beck Celebrity Golf Tournament could be distributed to various organizations from around Polk County.

Many representatives from the various organizations were on hand to attend the luncheon. The groups were announced during the lunch and representatives came forward for the presentation of their checks by Doc Ayers and Tom Beck, Ray Beck’s son.

Board member John Husser stated that approximately $40,000 were divided up and distributed to the groups.

“It is our pleasure once again to make these gifts to all these wonderful organizations,” Husser said.

This year’s tournament will be held on Friday, May 7 at Cherokee Country Club, with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Doc Ayers said during his remarks that golfers can still sign up before the April 30 deadline.

Teams will be made up of six players, but individuals may sign up and they will be assigned a team before the tournament.

The cost will be $125 per player and $750 per team. Lunch is provided for golfers.

For more information or to register, contact Debra Sims at 770-748-3870, or stop by and see her at the Gammage Law Firm, 216 Main St., Cedartown.

There will also be a silent auction featuring items donated by local merchants as well as signed sports memorabilia. The public is invited to participate in the silent auction.
