The middle school Bulldogs, under the guidance of Jeff Collier, were 4-1 heading into two games this week. Cedartown was slated to play Rockmart Tuesday and Armuchee Thursday. No results were available as of press time.
Over the past three games, CMS has lost to Darlington 4-1, defeated Coosa 9-5 and beat Model 6-3.
“We were undefeated going into the Darlington game but they handed us our first loss,” Collier said. “Our bats were not effective against some good pitching that they threw at us. Darlington’s young team played well.
“Our pitching continues to show good things. It’s our errors that cost us. Take nothing away from Darlington, but all of their runs were unearned.”
Against Coosa, the young Bulldogs hit the ball much better.
“Coosa is another team that typically has some good ball players and this game was no different,” Collier said. “It was a good game. We got up on them 5-3 going into the last inning but they came back to tie it. But we exploded for four runs in the next inning and then shut them down to come out of there with the W.”
Against Model, Collier was able to get everyone into the game.
“It was a sweet victory because all 18 players got an at bat,” Collier said. “Everyone played and everyone contributed. Anytime we can do that, it is a good day.”
