Several local small business owners and local artisans came together Saturday to kick off the holiday shopping season with a gift show Saturday, Nov. 15 in Rockmart.

This event was held noon until 5 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Rockmart First United Methodist Church in downtown Rockmart.

Vendors are making a donation to the church and the organizers requested that all who stopped in donate a canned food item to benefit the local food pantry.

Intended to be an annual event, it was described as an opportunity for "locals" to shop with "locals" while doing a good deed for the community.

A variety of arts and crafts were featured from local retail stores and Internet businesses based from homes in the Rockmart area.
