A drunken traffic accident and an altercation with the other driver landed a Cedartown man in jail over the weekend.

Timothy Ray Waddell, 46, of 4368 Collard Valley Road, Cedartown, faces charges of DUI-alcohol less safe, no insurance, affixing a tag in order to conceal or misrepresent, driving while unlicensed and disorderly conduct. He has since been released from the Polk County Jail per request of the Aragon Police Department.

The incident happened last Saturday around 7 p.m. According to Aragon Police Department reports, officers were called out to the intersection of Flint Hill and Highway 101 in reference to a fight.

Officer Charles Goss said he saw two men aggressively arguing, with Waddell being one of those men. Reports state no one else was in Waddell’s Ford Ranger truck and Waddell was visibly drunk.

Goss said Waddell was combative while he questioned the other driver, identified as William Eugene Wisener of Rockmart. Reports state the officer had to use physical force twice to subdue Waddell.

Wisener said he had stopped at a stop sign at that intersection when he and his passenger heard a vehicle attempting to stop behind them. The truck then struck Wisener’s vehicle and both saw Waddell exit the vehicle alone and from the driver’s side.

Waddell denied driving the truck and said it was his brother. However, he couldn’t provide a name or address of his brother.
