High rainfall on Sunday pushed storm drains and creeks in Polk County over their banks.

Euharlee Creek in Rockmart flooded some low lying areas, such as the downtown Seaborn Jones Park, but caused no reported damage.

In Cedartown, the city recreation department girls softball field at Tom Biggers Field was saturated by overflow. By Monday afternoon, most of the water had drained off the field itself, but a parking lot remained under several inches of water and water continued to lap at the outfield fence.

The Big Spring area next to the Womens Building on Wissahickon Avenue remained above normal water levels on Monday, with areas usually covered in grass remaining under several inches of water. The small creek and drainage basin leading out from the spring flooded portions of the yards of adjoining houses along Wissahickon.

This water system separates Prior Street and Wissahickon Avenue, and passes under Furnace Street.

Some low-lying roads in the area were temporarily under water Sunday night. However, emergency personnnel had no reports of weather-related traffic accidents in Cedartown.
