Euharlee City Councilman David Stout has resigned from his post on the council, effective immediately.

That confirmation came from Euharlee City Clerk Liz Dempsey. She said the resignation came Tuesday in the form of an email to City Manager Trish Sullivan. The email is not available because it is on Sullivan's computer and the city manager is in a meeting, Dempsey said.

The council has not voted on the resignation, Dempsey said. The city clerk said the council had a work session Tuesday night, but legally cannot vote in a work session.

Dempsey also said the only phone number she has for Stout is a cell phone number and that her personal policy is never to give those numbers out.

Stout was elected to the Euharlee City Council in 2003 and started his term Jan. 1, 2004.
