Cedartown's annual Martin Luther King Day march was held around noon today, ending at Cedar Spring Baptist Church with a rally around 12:30 p.m.

The event was labeled as the Fifth Annual Cedartown, Georgia Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Walk and Celebration.

In past years, the march has begun at the church and concluded at Polk County Courthouse No. 2 on Main Street for a rally and speeches.

This time, however, organizers decided to march in the opposite direction, south down Main Street from the courthouse to the church. The idea was that in case of cold weather or rain, participants would be able to hold the rally indoors.

As it turned out, the weather was nice and relatively sunny.

Cedar Spring Baptist Church Pastor Lewis Clark was joined inside the church by a crowd of nearly 100. In addition to Clark, speakers included Pastor Sydney Ford, with a performance of King's famous "I Have a Dream Speech;" and Mr. Frank K. Jones, special speaker.
