Three men are in custody on arson and burglary charges in a case involving a Hightower Road residence, according to a Polk County Police official.

The three men arrested are Robert Allen Brooks, 25, of 470 Cason Road, Cedartown; David Slade, 32, of 1029 North Broad Street, Rome; and James Slade, age and address unavailable.

All three are charged with arson in the first degree and burglary. Brooks and David Slade remain in the Polk County Jail. James Slade is being held on Haralson County on charges there before being transferred to Polk County to face charges from this incident.

Det. B. Brady with the Polk County Police Department said Brooks and James Slade were arrested on the day of the incident, Jan. 4. David Slade was arrested last Wednesday night.

According to reports, the three are accused of burglarizing the home, taking various household items and lawn equipment, then setting fire to the residence.

Brady said the State Fire Marshall’s office has been involved in the investigation and has ruled the incident as arson.

Brady said the three are all the suspects believed to be involved and no more arrests are expected.

Additional mugshots are expected to become available throughout the day
