Polk County police officers began an investigation in the area of 410 Vinson Mountain Road Monday afternoon, but officials are not yet releasing the details.

There have been no arrests, with officials stating the investigation was in the beginning stages. Several cars were parked along the shoulder of Vinson Mountain Road and officers were hiking down a ravine with equipment and supplies.

A truck from Georgia Environmental Inc. was also on the scene with yellow buckets pulled and personnel loading and unloading items from the truck.

Police officials said they would send out a press release once the investigation is completed.
