Two more suspects face charges in ongoing arrests involving a suspected car theft ring in Polk County.

Jimmy Cotton Jr., 41, of 11 Lee St., Cedartown, and Richard Samuel Bishop, 43, of 990 Piedmont Highway, Cedartown, were arrested separately Saturday afternoon, according to Polk County Jail docket reports.

Cotton is charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act (FVA), operating a chop shop, theft by receiving stolen property, and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He remains in the Polk County Jail.

Bishop is charged with theft by receiving, altering a vehicle's identification number, operating a chop shop and possession of tools for the commission of a crime. He was released on a property bond Monday afternoon.

Cotton is no stranger to the Polk County judicial system, according to police and Georgia Department of Corrections information. Cotton was one of two people arrested by Cedartown police last month at the Circle A Motel at 816 North Main St.

In that case, Cotton was arrested on drug charges after police found an active methamphetamine lab in the hotel room.

Uh....I hate to bring this up, but.....editor, perhaps someone should check their years of incarceration on Mr. Cotton. The years, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975 would have made him (assuming his current age listed as 41 is correct?) around 4 years old when he first started serving time. I kinda doubt that....but it IS fun to read! Thanks.
