A Conyers man is in the Polk County Jail on multiple charges alleging he enticed, kidnapped and molested a 14-year-old Polk County girl, according to Polk County Jail docket reports.

Larry Ryan Smith, 28, of 3801 Martingale Drive, Conyers, was arrested Oct. 7 in Resasca.

He is charged with obscene telephone contact with a child, enticing a child for indecent purposes, kidnapping, four counts of child molestation, and one count aggravated child molestation, according to reports.

State officials had issued an endangered child alert Wednesday for the girl, 14. The teen was found safe in Resaca. She was believed to be traveling with Smith when he was taken into custody.

Anybody wonder why the "similar stories" don't include recent arrests of "upstanding citizens" engaged in child pornography, enticing a child for indecent purposes, etc.?

If there is an arrest of someone on a drugs charge, this "similar stories" section will repost stories from 5 years ago - even if the person has been aquitted.

I'm just wondering, Why the double standard? And how long before this newspaper is sued for keeping these crime reminders up - especially the ones concerning innocent people.
