The Rockmart High School cross country team has proven to be one of the most successful programs. With runners coming through the halls of Rockmart such as Kyle Sherfesee, Cameron Tant, and Brock Shanks, it's no wonder why Rockmart's team knows nothing but region wins.

The guys team suffered a loss of four seniors last year, three of which we're strong starters. Last years guys cross country team also went on to win their fourth year in a row, and then placed fifth overall at state. With finishes like that, students have began coming through the cross country program knowing only region wins.

Lee spoke of this years girl team being one to build into next years region champs. Last years girls team came up sixth in region, but Head Coach Darrell Lee believes this years team can win it; he just needs a couple of more girls to step up.

"We've been strong so far," said Lee. "We ran well at Berry and excellent at Carrollton finishing fifth out of twenty teams so I proud of their work so far."

Brock Shanks finished first out of over 110 other varsity runners at Carrollton along with his first place finish in the annual 5k race that was held during the homespun activities.
