The internal investigation into a Cedartown police officer arrested after a domestic disturbance call at his home is ongoing, according to Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome.

Newsome said Cpl. Eddie Jimenez, 33, remains on paid adminstrative leave while the probe continues into his behavior Aug. 26.

According to Polk County Police Department reports, a neighbor called 911 after he heard gunshots coming from Jimenez' yard at 596 Dry Creek Road, Cedartown. Police investigating the situation said in reports Jimenez and his brother, Martin Julian Jimenez, 34, had been drinking and fighting. Cpl. Jimenez said he had discharged a gun into the air but both he and his brother denied fighting.

Both men were arrested in the incident and both bonded out the same day as their arrest.
