Cedartown police shut down suspected meth lab

A clandestine meth lab operating on Jackson Street was shut down Thursday, Cedartown Police Chief Henry King announced today.

The Cedartown Drug Unit served the warrant assisted by personnel from the Cedartown Police Department, Polk County Narcotics Enforcement Team, Polk County Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.

During the search at 227 Jackson St., King said, law enforcement agents seized a laboratory used for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Nine people were arrested at the scene.

King identified those arrested as: David A. Morgan, Scotty D. Cole, Samuel A. Arron, Phillip C. Rutledge, Jimmy R. Lee, James O. Spivey Jr., Tammy L. Wooten, Myra D. Jacobs and Gwendolyn F. Sutton.

All subjects were charged with manufacture of methamphetamine, trafficking methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possesion and use of drug-related objects and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.
