The Rome Floyd GED® Graduation ceremony and reception will be held at 7:00 p.m. on August 27, 2009, at the Forum in Rome, sponsored by Georgia Northwestern Technical College and the Rome Housing Authority.

GED® Graduates from school year 2008-2009 will participate in a traditional cap and gown ceremony. GNTC President Craig McDaniel will address the graduates and present commemorative certificates.

A number of awards including the Three Rivers Education Foundation Awards and the 100 Black Men of Rome Award will be presented for high honors and achievement.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the GED® Graduation event in Rome. Before moving to the Forum, the event was held at the Georgia Power Auditorium, the Rome-Floyd Library, and the First Baptist Church. For 20 of the 30 years, the technical college has been a major sponsor and also provider of adult education services in this community. GNTC is an official General Educational Development® Testing Center under contract with the Technical College System of Georgia and the American Council on Education.
