Rockmart's new postmaster, Sandy Strozier, was officially sworn in at 11 a.m. Thursday in a ceremony at the Rockmart Post Office by Jean Lovejoy, manager of all Georgia post offices with the 301 prefix.

Strozier has actually been on the job for about a year.

Strozier thanked all the guests attending and shared his appreciation for all who have helped him as he has moved up through the postal service. He extended special thanks to his family members for their support.

He said his appointment to the Rockmart Post Office was not only a position in his career path, but also "a moment int he journey of my life."

Strozier also gave recognition to the staff at the post office, calling them "all the employees who work with me ... I don't say 'work for me,' because we all work together."

Rockmart Mayor Curtis also addressed the crowd and presented Strozier with an official City of Rockmart pin, welcoming him to the community.

Frank Baulding, a member of The Church of Lord Jesus in Rockmart, told the crowd that Strozier already has become a well-respected member of the community. Strozier responded "with such energy, such vigor" when asked to talk to children at a church summer camp held last summer, Baulding said.
