A Polk County Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested Monday on charges of wire fraud, mail fraud and could also face a charge of insurance fraud, according to Sheriff Kelly McClendon.

The road deputy, Kenneth Gravett, 42, was arrested by the FBI, McClendon said. He was a 17-year veteran of the sheriff's office.

The charges stem from a vehicle insurance claim, McClendon said.

McClendon said the investigation started with a telephone call to his office from the insurance company.

"I was contacted by the insurance company that something wasn't right with a claim he had filed. So I called the FBI, who investigated him," he said.

The sheriff said he was following protocol, which calls for him to contact an outside agency to investigate suspicious activity within his office.

Let's not convict him just yet! We are all human and therefore subject to human error. Yes, we know right from wrong because we have a a God given conscience but without the Spirit of God living on inside of us we are powerless to resist the temptation to sin. With that said, let everyone who have the power of God and knows the power of prayer, pray for Gravett. I know that if I find myself in such a position I would want someone to pray for me.

This is awful! Law enforcement officers are supposed to be upstanding citizens not breaking the law because they are on that side of the law.
