Motorcycle riders and car enthusiasts are gearing up for the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office fifth annual Motorcycle and Car Show fundraiser Saturday.

The 70-mile route will begin at 10 a.m., taking off from Ridge Ferry Park, stretching onto Riverside Parkway and will loop onto Ga. 53 and end back at the park. Rider registration begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $20.

A car and bike show at Ridge Ferry Park starts at 11 a.m. There is no fee for paid motorcycle and bike riders. A People’s Choice Awards ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. The top five winners will be selected from tallies on paper ballots for Motorcycle and Car class.

“In the past we’ve had anywhere from 70 to 100 riders, but with the economy we don’t know yet,” said Deputy Jimmy Allred, organizer of the ride.

The event will also feature entertainment, door prizes and a live band. All proceeds will benefit Camp Good Times, a three-week summer day camp for special needs youth of Floyd and surrounding counties.

In the past, the money has helped families pay camp fees and provided funds for bowling and other activities for the special needs children, organizers stated.

For more information call Deputy Jimmy Allred at 706-236-2466 or Tammy Bryant at 706-234-0383.
