Rockstock Benefit Concert 2008 will be held Saturday and Sunday to help raise funds for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.

This is an outdoor event, scheduled at The Rock campground on Forsyth Lake Road, Rockmart. Everyone is encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for the live entertainment.

No coolers will be allowed in the concert area but food vendors will be set up for those who wish to make purchases, according to Frank Hilburn, one of the event organizers.

In event of rain, the entertainment will be moved into the new concert hall at the site.

Tickets will be available at J&L Discount, downtown Rockmart. Adults will be two days for $15 and one day, $10. Students will be admitted for two days at $10 or one day, $6. No admission charged for children under age 6.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10 and 12 noon Saturday, Oct. 11. A number of bands will be featured, including:

Neckdown, Sweet South-ern, Southern Thunder, Clay Broom, Cross Road, Impulse, The Van Leers, Michael Cross Band, The Slips, Scratch Off John, Lucas McCain, Dry Country Band and others.

For more information about the concert, call Hilburn at 770-684-8301.

He said donations would be taken for the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation (GFBF), a non-profit organization working for more than 25 years to help prevent fire-related injuries and deaths through education.

GFBF follows a threefold mission:

Educate the public in burn awareness and prevention

Support medical facilities in the care of burns in Georgia

Assist burn survivors during their recovery

“The Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is also thankful for the support and generosity of firefighters, corporate partners, civic groups, and the many individual contributors who help support our mission. Our success would not be possible without them,” said Dennis J. Gardin, the Foundation’s Executive Director.
