Atlanta – State Representative Rick Crawford (D-Cedartown) has been appointed to the House Democratic Caucus Education Policy Committee.

The Education Policy Committee is charged with studying and making legislative recommendations on adequately providing K-12 schools with the resources they need and making education a top priority in the state.

“We will make recommendations in areas such as what is the best way to retain the best and brightest teachers and how to fully fund the QBE formula to take the tax burden off of our local systems and property owners,” said Rep. Crawford. “I am honored to have been appointed to this position.”

House Democratic Leader DuBose Porter (D-Dublin) noted, “Representative Crawford has first hand knowledge on what it takes to provide our children with a quality education in the classroom. He believes in making education a top priority in the state of Georgia.”

“I’ve known Rick for a long time and he has a deep commitment to our children’s education. I am confident he will do a good job in this very important position,” said House Democratic Caucus Chairman Calvin Smyre (D-Columbus).
