The GBI says a "bomb" found in Cartersville is nothing more than a hoax.

A device made to resemble a bomb was found around lunchtime on Market Place near Unity Natoinal Bank, GBI spokesman John Bankhead said. The location of the device and the proximity of the bank appear to be unrelated, he added.

The GBI, the Bartow County bomb squad, the Bartow County Sheriff's Office and the FBI are involved in the investigation.

Authorities are trying to determine who put the device there, Bankhead said.
