Police on Thursday arrested a suspect in the murder of a Rome man found shot to death in Lindale.

Tommy Lamar Hyde, 26, of Silver Creek, was arrested around 9 p.m. in Cedartown by Floyd and Polk County authorites, said Sabrina Hall, an investigator with the Floyd County Police Department.

Hyde has been charged with murder in the shooting death of Ronnie Van Allmon, 45. A Public Works crew found the body of Allmon near a Lindale water tower Wednesday afternoon.

Allmon's body was found near The Trail off Booze Mountain Road. His last known address was 20 Cypress St.

Maj. Tommy Shiflett, of the Floyd County Police Department, said the body was found by a public works crew in a clearing near a water tower about 100 feet from a cul-de-sac on The Trail.

Shiflett said the body had likely been at the location a few days.

Also found at the scene was a black Ford Mustang convertible, which police said belonged to Allmon.
