Some two months into his position as interim superintendent of Polk County schools, Marvin Williams on Tuesday was hired to a two-year contract to make the role permanent.

Williams was hired in May to replace Dr. Darrell Sorrells, who retired at the end of April.

The Polk School District Board of Education met in closed executive session Tuesday night to discuss personnel. Afterward, the board reconvened and unanimously voted to hire Williams to continue filling the school system's top administrative position.
