Ladies and gentlemen, grab your clubs. The fourth annual HON golf tournament will be held on Friday, June 8 at Meadow Lakes Golf Course and they are looking for locals to participate.

“This tournament has become another avenue of support outside the realm of what we already do,” said Janie Smith, HON's public relations officer. “All money that is raised from this tournament stays in Polk County. We are hoping a lot of locals come out and support it.”

The HON company is a company that strives to be a good corporate citizen and tries to do their part in supporting various organizations and worth while causes in Cedartown and Polk County, Smith said.

“Last year over $10,000 was spent on toys for the United Fund Toy Chest,” Smith stated. “School supplies were also bought with proceeds from the event, as well as donations to other organizations.”

Smith says that while HON is keeping the money raised in Polk County, the community isn’t supporting the golf tournament like it is capable of.

“We are keeping this money in the community but the community support is not at the level that we would like to see it at. This tournament is mainly supported by our vendors who are from all across the Southeast,” Smith stated. “While we love to have our vendors and suppliers here in Cedartown, we welcome the opportunity for the community to be involved as well.”

If playing golf isn’t for you, Smith says the HON company is offering the chance for people to be sponsors and help out that way.

“We are offering several sponsorship levels this year from beverage sponsor to big break sponsor up to team sponsorship. If you are interested in playing in the tournament or would like to donate in other ways please feel free to contact me,” Smith concluded.

Registration will start at 7:30 a.m. the day of the tournament, with the event teeing off at 8:30 a.m. Team sponsorships are available. To be a presenting sponsor is $1,000; a vice president sponsor is $750 and a general manager is $500. To register a regular team is $400 and an individual player is $90.

Other sponsorship opportunities that Smith touched on, such as beverage, hospitality, and big break are available. All those sponsorships range from $50 to $150.
