Desic Kathorio Webb was found guilty in the shooting death of Koi E. Sanders Friday, May 26, in Polk Superior Court after a full day deliberations by the jury. The shooting occurred in January of 2005 on Martiele and Cleo Streets at the intersection near East View Church.

Webb was charged with three counts including murder with malice, felony murder and aggravated assault. He was found guilty on two, which were felony murder and aggravated assault.

Superior Court Judge Michael L. Murphy sentenced Webb to life in prison with the possibility of parole.

Webb’s public defender, Harold Chambers, asked for a new trial, which Murphy denied. Chambers indicated that he would file an appeal.

Webb was handcuffed and taken into custody to be immediately transported to the jail.

Security was heightened at Courthouse No. 2 as tension between family and friends of the victim and defendant filled the courtroom awaiting the verdict. Numerous sheriff deputies and other police officers were on hand to maintain order in the courtroom and outside the building. No altercations occurred.
