Polk's political pot is beginning to bubble as more people are talking about upcoming elections and the decision they will make when casting a ballot in the November 6 General Primary.
On the local ballot will be the six-year $36 million Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). This will require a countywide vote for Polk, including Rockmart, Cedartown and Aragon.
The following candidates will be up for election in Polk. (I) denotes incumbent

Commissioner At-Large (2 seats): Bobby Alexander(I), David Lindsey, Gary Martin, Ray Merritt(I), Dale Tuck
Commissioner At-Large (1 seat - special election): Wilburn Brown, Latitia Smith Ironke, Scotty Tillery
Rockmart
Mayor: Curtis Lewis (I) and James B. Austin

Ward 5: Ray Carter (I) and Daniel L. Forsyth
Aragon
Mayor: Brenda Gazaway (I) and Ken Suffridge

Council-at-large (special election): Curtis Burrus and Burney Collins
Bartow County
Voters in adjoining Bartow County will also be choosing officials who will be decision makers for the next two to four years.
