A candlelight vigil at the Polk County Courthouse in Cedartown Thursday is planned in observance of National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

CASA -- Courth Appointed Special Advocates -- will be leading the event at 5:30 p.m. Also participating will be some of the children housed at the Murphy-Harpst campus at 740 Fletcher St., Cedartown.

CASA, with the help of volunteer advocates, provides a support network for children who have been removed from homes by court order.

The local CASA organization serves Polk and Haralson counties.
