CASA vigil set for Thursday

The annual Light of Hope Candle vigil, sponsored by the Tallapoosa Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will be held this year today at 5:30 p.m.

The event will be held on the steps of the Polk County Courthouse #2 in Cedartown. Juvenile Court Judge Mark Murphy will be the keynote speaker.

The public is invited to attend the event that encourages support of child abuse victims.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month and is recognized by CASA Programs by hosting Light of Hope events across the nation.

Tallapoosa CASA is a member of the National CASA Association, which has more than 900 local community programs and recruit and train citizen volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children.
