Gas drive-offs reported; concealed weapon arrest

Four gas drive-offs were reported in Polk County and Cedartown between Aug. 26 and 28.

From Polk County and Cedartown police reports:

On Aug. 26, at Burton’s Kwik Serv gas station, located at 4584 Rome Highway in Aragon, a man driving a black Jeep Cherokee allegedly pumped $48 dollars in gas and drive off without paying.

A man allegedly drove off without paying for $30 in gas at Grands, 994 Cedartown Highway, Rockmart, on Aug. 27. The suspect was said to have been driving a rust colored Chevrolet truck.

A Cedartown gas station was twice the victim of gas drive offs on Aug. 28.

At Mountain Express, 1325 S. Main St., a man driving a white Chevrolet Astro Van towing a black trailer and red boat pumped $20.11 gallons of regular unleaded gas without paying.

That same day, a female driving a small gray car pumped $10.01 of unleaded gas and drove off without paying.

Carrying a

concealed weapon

Cedartown police arrested an alleged prowler that was concealing a BB gun in the waist band of his pants on Aug. 29.

From Polk County Jail records and Cedartown police reports:

Wille McCain, 18, of 132 Stubbs St., was arrested and charged with loitering and prowling and possession of a concealed weapon.

Police were dispatched to Lowther Street where a witness told police he had seen a black male try to unlawfully enter a home.

McCain, who was wearing the clothing described by the witness, was spotted on S. Cave Spring Street at Henderson Street. The suspect allegedly had a BB gun hidden in the waist band of his pants.

McCain was then transported back to the witness, who identified him as the prowler.

He was arrested and transported to the Cedartown Police Department.
