The $18.65 billion state spending plan approved by Gov. Sonny Perdue Monday includes just $10,000 in spending specifically earmarked for Polk County.

State Rep. Bill Cummings said he put in two requests, for the Boys and Girls Club of Polk County and Our House, The Polk County Women’s Shelter. Each organization will receive $5,000 to help cover operating expenses, Cummings said.

“Those are the only two things that are specified in this budget (for Polk County),” Cummings said.

The budget also continues funding for statewide programs and services that benefit Polk Countians, he noted.
