An April 8 talent show will be hosted by the City of Cedartowns 13-member Relay for Life team. City Clerk, Carol Crawford, said she hopes the event, which will raise money for the American Cancer Society, will be successful.
The show will be held at the Cedartown Civic Auditorium at 7 p.m.
This will be the first talent show weve had, Crawford said. We knew there had been one a long time ago, and that one had been successful, so we wanted to try.
Crawford said the city is looking for any type of talent. There will be two divisions, Crawford explained, one for ages 18 and up and one for ages 17 and under.
Cash prizes will be awarded for each division for first ($200), second ($75) and third place ($50).
A registration deadline is set for March 31. Registration information can be picked up at City Hall.
Tickets to the event will be $5. For more information call 770-748-3220.
Crawford said that all proceeds from the ticket sales will go toward the American Cancer Society.
LOCKED UP FOR A GOOD CAUSE
Local police are breaking out the handcuffs to help fight the battle against cancer.
On Thursday, April 6, members of the Cedartown Police Departments Relay for Life Warrant Squad will patrol the city, arresting residents and taking them to the slammer.
From 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., the police department will conduct their annual Jail n Bail event.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and is part of the Relay for Life Campaign.
Warrants will be issued Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., now through April 5. Anyone can issue a warrant for $5.
For those who are familiar with the cuffs and suspect that a co-worker or friend will send an officer to arrest them, a Get-Out-Of-Jail card can be purchased from now until April 5 for $20.
When officers come to make their arrests, those who are able to leave with the officer will be transported to the city jail and put behind bars. Before those arrested can leave, a $10 bail must be posted.
Those who cannot leave with the officer have the option of buying the $20 Get-Out-Of-Jail card.
