Polk County Investigations Capt. Kiki Campbell confirmed Monday morning that Calvin Fredrick, Jr. remains in the Polk County Jail, charged with the stabbing death of his wife, 22-year-old Jennifer Hand Fredrick.

According to Assistant County Coroner Tony Brazier, a call came in to Polk County 911 at 3:50 a.m. Saturday reporting a domestic disturbance between the Fredricks at 1139 Flint Hill Road.

When police and emergency workers arrived, they found Hand stabbed and in serious condition. She was stabilized at the scene and rushed to Polk Medical Center but died at 5:12 a.m.

Her body was taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation crime lab in Atlanta and an autopsy is scheduled, Brazier

said.

32-year old Fredrick was arrested and charged with murder soon after the stabbing, near the scene, Campbell said. Other charges will also be filed, she said.

The couple had some domestic violence history, Campbell said, and there were problems between the two.

Campbell said that as of Monday morning, Fredrick was not talking to police, and investigators are having to collect information about the couple through family members.

A two-to-three-week-old baby was in the house at the time of the stabbing, Campbell said, as was the victim’s father.

“There is no happy ending to this story. You’ve got a three-week-old baby with no mother and a father who is in jail, Campbell said. “It’s a sad situation.”
