Cedartown woman loses arm in Thursday wreck

A Cedartown woman was seriously injured in a two-car accident Thursday, July 24.

According to EMT Director Curtis Vincent, the wreck occurred on Collard Valley Rd. at approximately 3 p.m.

The accident was said to have involved two vehicles, a one-ton wrecker and a Geo.

The Geo driver, whose name was not released, was said to be a 22-year-old Cedartown woman.

She reportedly collided with the wrecker while driving on Collard Valley Rd.

In the course of the accident, EMTs reported that her left arm was severed.

Emergency workers arrived on the scene. They quickly placed the 22-year-old into an ambulance and transported her to the Floyd Medical Center in serious condition.

The truck driver, identified as a 47-year-old Cedartown man, was treated for a laceration to the head, which he suffered in the accident.

The Georgia State Patrol had yet to finish their accident report as of press time, and they could not be reached for comment.
