The loss propelled the Lady ’Dogs into the losers bracket where they were set to face Carrollton (19-11) on Tuesday, October 14 (results of that game will be in the next edition of The Cedartown Standard). If the Lady ’Dogs were to beat Carrollton they would play the Central-Carroll/Cass loser with the winner of that game being guaranteed one of the top four spots in the region, and a automatic bid to go to the State Sectionals.
The Region 6-AAA tournament began with the eighth-seeded Pepperell Lady Dragons defeating the ninth-seeded Cartersville Lady Purple Hurricanes 4-0. Pepperell then had to face off with Region 6-AAA’s No. 1 seeded Central-Carroll Lady Lionettes.
The Lady Lionettes (12-6) silenced the Pepperell bat’s on their way to a 5-0 victory. In game three Cass snuck by the Villa Rica Lady Wildcats 2-1. Game four saw the Haralson County Lady Rebelettes (11-13) upsetting the third-seeded Carrollton Lady Trojans 3-2.
In the afternoon action, it was LaGrange knocking off Cedartown 5-3 in game five and Carrollton eliminating Cartersville 8-3 in game six (an elimination game).
The Region 6-AAA tournament bracket now looks like this:
Game 7: Central-Carroll vs. Cass
Game 8: Haralson Co. vs. LaGrange
Game 9: Carrollton vs. Cedartown (elimination game)
Game 10: Pepperell vs. Villa Rica (elimination game)
