Cedartown police arrested a woman with methamphetamine after a traffic stop on Feb. 18.
From Polk County Jail records and Cedartown police reports:
Brenda Leddy, 43, of 400 Morton Springs Road, Lot 10, was arrested for violating the Georgia Controlled Substance Act for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects and a seatbelt violation.
Leddy was pulled over by police on S. Main Street after officers noted the vehicle she was driving had no working tag lights or left brake light.
Police noted Leddy as acting “very strange” as if she was under the influence and that her speech was unintelligible.
After obtaining permission to search Leddy’s coat, police allegedly found a pocket knife and a cigarette box that contained a straw with suspected methamphetamine residue inside and a piece of aluminum foil that also contained suspected meth residue.
At that time reports state that Leddy admitted to using the straw to smoke meth.
Police later tested the residue found on the straw, which reportedly tested positive for meth.
Leddy was arrested and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking and to the Polk County Jail for housing.
Cocaine
Polk County police arrested a man for cocaine possession after he was found sitting in his vehicle behind a convenience store on Feb. 22.
From Polk County Jail records and county police reports:
Anthony Carol Hale, 39, of 672 Bethlehem Road, Rockmart, was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine and possession of drugs not in the original container.
While investigating a burglar alarm call at a Main Street convenience store, police reported noticing a white male fleeing on foot around the back of another nearby store.
The officer then drove his vehicle behind the building and found Hale sitting in a blue car.
As police walked to the back of Hale’s vehicle, Hale allegedly threw a small plastic bag down on the driver’s side of the car. The bag was later found to contain three round yellow pills.
A search of the vehicle’s glove compartment reportedly revealed a knife lying next to a clear plastic bag that contained a white powder substance.
According to reports, Hale stated that the subject who ran behind the store was a friend of his but that he did not know why the subject was there.
No other suspects were found.
Hale was then arrested and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking and to the Polk County Jail for housing.
Simple battery
Polk County police arrested a Rockmart man after he allegedly struck his daughter with an object on Feb. 21.
From Polk County Jail records and county police reports:
Jesse Lee Ramsey, 42, of 28 Clarkwood Dr., Rockmart, was arrested and charged with simple battery under the Family Violence Act.
Police responded to Ramsey’s residence where his daughter, 18-year-old Hannah Ramsey, stated that he had been drinking and was intoxicated.
She stated that her father picked up a flashlight and struck her several times in the throat leaving red marks.
Reports state that the victim was unclear why her father attacked her.
Jesse Ramsey was arrested and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking and to the Polk County Jail for housing.
