On Tuesday, Sept. 16, a Cedartown man was arrested for threatening a co-worker with a knife.

According to police:

Police were dispatched to a South College Street business, where a group of construction workers were allegedly involved in an altercation.

Officer Jonathon Fuller was told that 31-year-old Garry Dale Bearden, Jr., of Weaver, Ala., was threatened with a knife after an argument with another man.

Bearden told Fuller that he, Jerry Tommy Prater, 56, 1194 East Ave., and another subject had a verbal altercation earlier that day. After Bearden felt tempers had calmed, Prater allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket, stating that he “had something for [Bearden].” The suspect reportedly moved towards Bearden with the knife, acting as if he would stab the victim.

When asked, Prater openly admitted that he had threatened Bearden with a knife.

Prater was then charged with aggravated assault and carrying a concealed weapon.
