A car was allegedly stolen and wrecked on Saturday, April 19.
As reported by police:
Ashley Statham, 18, 1019 White River Rd., Rockmart, told police that she and her fiancé were fishing at the Inner Harbor lake when they noticed two teenage black males near their apartment. A few moments later, the victim stated that she heard a car engine. She then saw her 1989 Caprice Sedan being driven down the driveway by the two suspects. Statham soon heard a loud crash.
The victim and her fiancé rushed through the woods near Browning Rd. When they reached the driveway, the two saw the abandoned Sedan resting sideways after it apparently was driven into a Pine tree.
Upon looking inside her car, Statham found that her purse had been stolen.
Police said that the suspects are believed to be a 16 and 15-year-old from out of the county. As of press time, neither had been located.
