County police Monday raided an alleged methamphetamine lab in Cedartown.
Polk County Police Chief Billy Wills said his department’s Narcotics Enforcement Team, S.W.A.T. and the Cedartown Police Department’s K-9 Unit took part in the operation. Agents had received a tip about an operational clandestine laboratory located at 634 Georgia Ave., Lot 130, he said.
Drug enforcement agents secured a search warrant. When S.W.A.T. members made entry into the residence, a man reportedly attempted to flee through a rear door and was apprehended by N.E.T. agents. Other agents ensured the location was safe to enter and located the suspected laboratory.
Wills said agents recovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine, several Schedule 4 narcotics (prescription medications) that were not in prescribed containers, and varying drug-related paraphernalia.
Arrested was Tracy Roy Maxwell, 37, of 634 Georgia Ave., Lot 130, Cedartown.
Wills said Maxwell is charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of a Schedule 4 narcotic, possession of methamphetamine, pills not kept in original container, conspiracy and attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, and possession of drug-related objects.
Other charges may be forthcoming pending further investigation, Wills said.
