Cedartown Police arrested a local woman after she was found shoplifting and in possession of prescription narcotics.

From reports:

Police were called to investigate an alleged shoplifting case at Wal-Mart on Thursday, August 29.

Sgt. Anthony Bowman responded to the call and met with Wal-Mart employees at the layaway desk.

An employee claimed that she saw Adrienne Nicole Gray, 20 of 2526 Potash Rd., take a backpack from off one of the racks. It was reported that she removed the tag from off the bag. The employee says that Gray tried to use the backpack to conceal several objects as she walked through the store.

Gray exited the store without paying for her items. The employee chased after Gray, making a citizen’s arrest as she brought the suspect back into Wal-Mart.

While waiting for police to arrive, Gray asked to go to the restroom. The employee allowed her to leave, but soon had to recapture the fleeing suspect.

Once on the scene, Bowman searched the stolen backpack, finding over $114 in stolen items, including shirts, dresses, head bands, baby shirts, overalls, pants and shoes.

Bowman also found a gold cardboard jewelry box containing 75 Xanax pills and ten Klonopin pills. Gray did claim that she had a prescription for the Xanax tablets.

Gray was arrested on charges of violating the Georgia Controlled Substance Act (VGCSA) by having prescription drugs not in their original container and theft by shoplifting.
