A Cedartown man was arrested by County Police for driving a stolen truck.

From Police reports:

On Friday, June 28, Polk County police officers located a stolen 1989 Mazda pick-up being driven by Danny Franklin Carter of 121 Ellen Hand Circle.

Officers had been on the lookout after Phillip Willerson, 425 Santa Claus Mtn. Rd., reported that the Mazda was missing.

While patrolling along Hutto Rd., county police spotted the vehicle. After signaling for the driver to stop, officers matched the serial number with that of Willerson’s missing truck. Police then searched the cab and found several items belonging to Willerson.

Along with a checkbook, credit cards, phone cards, bank cards, Willerson’s drivers license and cash, police found a loaded Davis .380 automatic in the passenger seat, within inches of the suspect.

The handgun was found to belong to Carter.

The suspect claimed that he had borrowed the pick-up after Willerson had given his permission.

Carter told police that he and Willerson were friends of the same woman, which angered Willerson. The stolen vehicle report, Carter said, was used to exact revenge on him.

Police arrested Carter on charges of possessing a firearm while committing a crime and theft by taking.
