Polk Police report two successful drug operations

Polk County Police Chief Billy Wills announced operations conducted recently by members of the Polk County Police Departments’ Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) and SWAT.

On Thursday July 1, NET agents, along with members of SWAT executed search warrants at two separate locations in Rockmart resulting in a total of four arrests and the seizure of illegal narcotics, altered firearms and stolen ATVs.

The first operation was conducted at 1144 Hutchins Mountain Road, Rockmart. There, agents recovered several firearms, some of which had been illegally altered, suspected methamphetamine, various types of schedule IV narcotics and drug related paraphernalia.

Arrested were: David Kevin Graves, 28, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and discharging a firearm within 50 yards of a public roadway; Megan Kathlean Brakebush, 22, for possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a sawed-off shotgun, three counts of possession of schedule IV narcotics and possession of pills not in the original container; and Joseph Wynn Young, 28, for possession of a sawed-off shotgun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, three counts of possession of schedule IV narcotics, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of pills not in the original container. All suspects resided at 1144 Hutchins Mountain Road, Rockmart.

The second operation was conducted at 3162 Cartersville Highway, Rockmart. Agents recovered suspected methamphetamine, suspected components of a clandestine laboratory, a stolen ATV and an ATV with the vehicle identification number removed.

Agents arrested Edward McAlister, 41, of 3162 Cartersville Highway, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, conspiracy and attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, theft by receiving and possession of an article with altered identification mark.
